My first post...

As I write my first blog post I am in Rome, Italy enjoying all that the city has to offer. The history, the scenery, the food, and the shopping are all to die for! Even the weather at over 100 degrees every day has been great, although we are all a bit sunburnt. I am on a Mediterranean adventure with my boyfriend Travis, his parents, and a friend and I won’t return until the day before I start law school. Speaking of law school, that is what this blog is about. My journey as a 1L at Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon. I am so excited to start law school! It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and one that I often wondered would come true. I am over the moon that I got accepted to any law school, let alone my first choice, and I am excited to begin my new adventure, but as with all the new adventures the uncertainty is the hardest part. I have been a full time student and server since I was seventeen. My life has been consistent and that has brought me great comfort. I am now twenty four, and attempting to do something I have never done, and have no clue how to do. So many questions go through my mind every day; Will I be good at this? Do I have what it takes? Am I prepared for what a life changing event my first year of law school will be? I don’t know the answer to any of these questions, but I do know myself. I know how hard I worked to get to this point, and how much this opportunity means to me, so I know that I am not going down without a fight! At this point I have done as much as I can. I have read all of the suggested reading. I have talked with lawyers and fellow 1L’s and have even quit my job to dedicate all I have to kicking butt in law school, and that is exactly what I plan to do. For now I’ll just enjoy the summer and the company of family, friends, and the Mediterranean. Off to Hard Rock Cafe. Ciao!

  4. Good Morning Carleigh, Congratulations for having the courage to follow your dream. That is the one thing which life has taught me, as you get older (like me) do not look back with regrets (which I don't). By now you will have finished your first term and I look forward to hearing how you enjoyed it. Starting you blog by visiting Italy is a lovely idea. I visited Sorrento a few years ago and just fell in love with the place....especially the ice cream! Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne
